Arbeloa Maicon & Albiol

It’s about time that we hear some promising news regarding the future of the backline at Madrid. It seems that Perez is really following a plan. He started with the forwards, wingers, and now defenders. In terms of midfield, i believe that we have good players already and any addition is not crucial but would be nice. Alonso is still being persude by Madrid, so that would be a relief in terms of midfield if we do land him.

Now to the potentially exciting news. Marca reported that Madrid are close to closing a deal on Albiol from Valencia. This signing, if it happens, would close the gap that is in the current squad due to Cannavaro’s departure. Albiol is a great defender and he would fit perfectly in the new Madrid line up. Albiol would make for a great partner for Pepe, if he is back!! Keep your fingers crossed Madristas! This in my opinion is a very important signing if it is completed.

Arebola seems to be destined to move from Liverpool especially after the fact that Liverpool just signed Glen Johnson. I think he is also a good target. He was once a Madrid product, but no need to go into that right now.

Maicon is also a target of Madrid, but i am not very optimistic due to Inter Milans asking price. He would be a great addition. Madrid might be tempted to trade some players, possibly of Holland decent in order to land him. If anyone should pay the price of Maicon it should be Van Der Vart and no one else. I am afraid that Madrid might go insane and actually trade Sneider or Robben for the Brazilian! I pray to God that is not the case!!

I am very glad that Madrid has now moved to take a look at the backline. I’ve always said that the backline is really important and i am sure that Perez thinks so too, but we might differ on how which line is more important the backline or frontline! Nevertheless, it is great to see that Perez is following a plan in terms of signings and what encourages me more is the fact that Madrid is not clinging to players who are hard to get and wasting time!! Maybe Calderone could learn a thing or two by watching Perez at work!!

Villa, Ribery, Ibra, and Forlan!

ribery_wob_468x345 FBL-EURO2008-ESP-VILLA  Ibrahimovic32_3991_Diego_Forlan

It Seems that those transfer targets are running away from Madrid due to the Atmosphere that Perez has created by signing Kaka and Ronaldo!!

Barca are reportedly about to make a 50 Million offer for villa plus a loan of Bojan and Caceres! Madrid have publicly said that they would be unable to match such an offer to steal Villa back from making a move to Barca. l Bayern are asking an unreasonable sum of money to approve a move of the star player Ribery. The same case is true for Ibra! SO WHY IS THIS HAPPENING!!!!

Well when you start the transfer season by Paying 90+ Million for Ronaldo and 68+ Million for Kaka, then you cause an unsettlement in the transfer game. One would of never imagined such numbers in the current economic situation the world is going through so it is only reasonable to see clubs become greedy when they see Madrid blowing through cash in such a climate… I do not blame Bayern, Valencia, Inter, or Atheltico for being greedy. We have to be realistic! We want to sign the best players in the world and they are gonna cost a lot of money. You can not expect these clubs to let go of their star players for a lot less than Kaka!

SO WHAT NOW??

I still think it is too early in the transfer season for Madrid to worry. As long as the club is focused on getting some real talent in the defensive end, we will be fine! I believe Ribery will end up in Madrid. It might not happen this summer but it will eventually happen. Zidan will not allow Madrid to let go of their pursuit of Ribery. Villa will go the highest bidder in my opinion, unless he intervenes and pressures Valencia to accept the Madrid Offer. Ibra seems like out of the question as well as Forlan.

Madrid & the Spending Spree!

It seems like Perez, the new Madrid President is blowing through club money as if it is endless! Don't get me wrong, we need KAKA as well as a top scorer, but do we really need such players more than we need defenders!! If you have been watching Madrid games this season you would concur with me that the main problem with Madrid is not its attack or even midfield but DEFENSE!!

Cannavaro did what he could but his fitness were starting to show his age. Pepe was hot and cold and lets not forget the horrible incident near the end of the season. Heinze is not a football player in my book. Sergio Ramos was overworked as a RB who was expected to push forward.

What about the bench? Marcelo was never a good RB and Torres was really not given a chance to get use to the position. We have the best goalie in the world but the line in front of him is not even close to what is needed for Madrid to be challenging in the Champion League.

So here we go again, spending the majority of the money on players, who are amazing, but not really critical for the club!!!

The latest news is that Madrid is trying to lure David Villa to sign with us. But that makes no sense to me!!! Shouldn't we be looking for a great CB or RB instead of a striker? Did we forget that we have Higuain and Huntelar??? Did we also forget that we have Robben who has been phenomenal, when not injured??

I was very encouraged when i saw that Perez appointed Zizou as an adviser, but so far i do not see any indication that anyone is talking about filling Cannavaor's position or Henize's for that matter.

It is still early in the transfer season for us to lose hope in signing a defensive player that is worth the money, but the clock is ticking. Barca are also on the hunt for defensive players, so we need to get the ball rolling on it before the likes Vidic and Bruno Alves are swept away by Barca, Chelsea, and other big clubs.
